Casino mogul Steve Wynn Elbows his Picasso

From the Washington Post Online:
Steve Wynn to Keep Picasso He Damaged

Associated Press
Wednesday, October 18, 2006; C07

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 17 -- Casino mogul Steve Wynn will keep and restore a Pablo Picasso painting that he accidentally damaged shortly after he had agreed to sell it for a record $139 million, an aide said Tuesday.

Wynn was showing the painting, called "Le Reve" ("The Dream"), to guests in his office this month at Wynn Las Vegas when he struck the painting with his right elbow, spokeswoman Denise Randazzo said.

Wynn, who often gestures with his hands when he speaks, has retinitis pigmentosa, an eye disease that affects peripheral vision. He was traveling Tuesday and unavailable for comment.

The 1932 painting was left with a silver dollar-sized hole torn in the canvas, according to an account by screenwriter Nora Ephron, who saw the mishap.

Wynn reacted with an expletive, and said that he was glad he was responsible instead of someone else, Ephron recounted in a blog published Monday. He also promised to repair the painting.

Wynn bought the work for $48.4 million in 1997. He had agreed to sell the painting to art collector Steven Cohen for $139 million, which would have been $4 million higher than the $135 million that cosmetics magnate Ronald Lauder paid in July for Gustav Klimt's 1907 portrait "Adele Bloch-Bauer I."

My First Photographed is Published!!! (digitally, that is)

North by Northwest's Regina Pic!!
The array of emotions I am experiencing right now cannot be described. I'll try. Pride. Happiness. Pride?

This day will go down in history, along with:

  1. The day I got married.
  2. The day my [first] set of twins was born.
  3. And, now, the day when NbNW published a picture, with a copyright tag, that I took.
I wish AJL would get their shtuff together and hire me.

Sub-rights associates have nothing on me. I sell (/give away) my own rights.

HBO/Curb Your Enthusiasm: Sold Out!

Amazing. Larry David has a reported $200-$650 Million in the bank from that little-known show, Steinfeld, yet, feels a need to continue selling us more worthless products (the book- notice the large "Buy the book now" buttons). He should be focusing more on making better episodes of CYE. If there are any?!

EDIT: apparently, some are reporting a season 6!

WOXY.com is back!!!

And it feels fan-freakin-tastic. You heard it right... WOXY.com is back on-the-air as of today. It was way too quiet around here for too long. Head on over to www.woxy.com and tune in right now. To kick things off right, we have a ton of Lounge Act sessions lined up for the next few weeks and beyond. Make sure to catch Headlights this afternoon at 4:00p EDT.

So what's changing? Not a lot right away. All the good stuff you've come to expect is all right here... Mike and Shiv, the boards, live Lounge Acts and lots of great music. It's now completely free to listen, and we'll be jacking up the quality of our streams even higher within the next couple weeks.

What can you expect for the future? We're working on opening up additional WOXY Live Lounge studios around the country in order to bring you more live Lounge Act sessions. Next month, you're going to be able to program your own radio station over at La La using tracks pulled from the massive WOXY.com music library. And that's just the beginning.

While you're listening to the sweet, sweet WOXY, make sure to head over to see our buddies at La La (www.lala.com), register for an account and check out what they have going on. La La members are pretty crazy about their music, so we're all going to get along quite well.

Keep an eye on the website, and we'll email more details as we go along. We're just stoked to be back.

Tune in, enjoy the music and welcome back: www.woxy.com

Canon Rebates Coming Soon

Well it's fall and Photokina has come and gone.. and just like last year we are left with a Canon Double Rebate program (no triple rebates like last year).

I'm sure Canon will have this information soon on thier web site, I guess the ad is already in the Nov. magazine issues. Note the rebate amount on the Canon 5D....

Full list:

70-200 f/2.8L IS USM $50/$100

Flashes:
430 Flash $10/$20
580 Flash $15/$30
MR-14 Flash $15/$30
MT-24 Flash $30/$60

Camera's:
30D $100/$200
5D $300/$600 <--- Yikes!

NOTE: If your wondering how double rebates work... You buy one product and you get the rebate on it. You buy two qualifying products and you get double that rebate amount on each item you buy. Ex: You buy a Canon 5D and 24-105mm f/4 Lens, you get $600 off the camera body, and $100 the lens for a total savings of $700.
