Nate Dern: Beauty and the (NOT A REAL) Geek

We seem to be getting older, but, the world is definitely not changing. At least not when it comes to reality TV shows produced by Ashton Kutcher. The latest season of WB's Beauty and the Geek has introduced us to yet another group of eight soon-to-be-infamous cookie-cutter geeks, each hand-selected from their respective demographic; And, all for our viewing enjoyment. We have the Star-Wars guy, the Star-TREK guy, the Skinny guy, the Pi guy, the NES guy,the Indian guy. I think that is it.
However, something is off. Our crackpot staff at MM have identified at least 2 geek-plants. Or GENTS. First there is Nate, the lovable long-haired star-wars tribute band lead singer. He wears 60s style vintage clothing- making sure not 2 pieces match at the same time: looking more like Jughead Jones-meets-Williamsburg, Brooklyn than someone fitting his title. Furthermore, his perfect 3-month growth of hair/beard combo seems to cover up the normal- perhaps even cute - face of a new york based punish cauci-actor that just wants his 
Before you think I am over reacting, consider the stand-up challenge. Our insider seemed pretty confident on stage, almost as if he has had acting lessons in the past. Combine that with the fact that the upcoming episode promises us both a makeover and a hook-up. I think we have the making of yet another B&G scandal.
Side note. The other plant, who couldn't help smirking when he claimed he didn't know what it meant to "get booty" was kicked off of week 1. Which proves something, though I am not sure what.

Nate's stupid Staw Wars song(repeated in the promo clips) contains a stupid error which would make any real geek shift uncomfortably in his cargo pants-- Han Solo was not encased in "carbonate" as Nate's song says-- Solo was encased in "carbonite," an error that a real geek would have pointed out and for which Nate would have been ejected from any real house of geeks.

The standup video is from after the filming of the show. While he has been a member of Harvard's illustrious long form comedy troupe (IGP) for four years, Nate had never performed solo before the Laugh Factory.
I can also attest to the fact that Nate does not wear deodorant.
all you say is true, yet, it doesnt change the fact that nate hooks up with that gurl on the show.

I've known Nate since high school and will vouch for his geekiness. He was named a Boettcher Scholar [1] his senior year and declined the scholarship to attend Harvard.
The Jargon Lexicon defines a geek as "a person who has chosen concentration rather than conformity; one who pursues skill (especially technical skill) and imagination, not mainstream social acceptance". I feel that fits Nate.
I grew up in Evergreen, my mother works at EHS, and in 1996 I was named the High Queen of All Geekdom by Robert Hayden, author of the Geek Code. I am a little surprised that another commenter claims that geeks don't hook up with girls; I've dated several geeks and my husband and I regularly joke about who's the alpha geek in our household.
1. The Boettcher Scholar award is a merit-based scholarship that covers almost all college expenses at a college in Colorado. Forty Scholars are named annually.

after watching last nites episode, i am having 2nd thoughts.
i have never seen a guy so akward around pretty girls... well- except for myself.
maybe, just maybe, nate is truly a geek. fo real. that would explain a lot. (he is just a above-average looking geek. like screeech.)
that being the case, i know jennylees has no intention of teaching a 24 year-old how to kiss on the lips, and NOT F-in CANOODLE!! so much.

Nate is my cousin, and i can tell you there is definitely a balance between his geekiness.
He's not geeky in the sense that he has no friends, no social life, and no girlfriends. He has had all of those, and his girlfriend (who he had WHILE filming the show) was WAY prettier than jennylee, and actually smart.
He attended Harvard and had plenty of friends. His friends and him started this Star Wars band... I think more so to be funny than because they actually LOVE Star Wars. But of course a tv show like that is going to emphasis the point he has ANYTHING to do with Star Wars.
He does dress funny (sometimes), doesn't wear deodorant, and takes pride in having long hair and facial hair. He likes to go against the social norms.
But I agree he is not a huge geek, in the sense of your guys' definition. I'm not convinced he didn't know what booty was. I'm sure he did.
I know Nate likes some attention, but he did not go on the show to become famous. It was just a random opportunity that he never expected would followthrough. We were shocked, considering, he's never been a guy to be into these silly reality shows.
As for as being an intern for John Stewart, that was AFTER beauty and the geek was filmed, and only slightly after it was premiered. He now lives in London and makes pretty funny videos: youtube.com, search nate dern.
Nate is a very popular person, reasonably, and always has been. He was homecoming king in high school. Just because someone goes against social norms doesn't make them unpopular, nesscisarily.
Nate's a good guy, and while I'm sure everyone's geekiness was exagerated, his kindness was not.
As for him and Jennylee- She dumped him for Frankie Munaz. What a bitch.

Dear Hannah: WOW That was so much info lol and I am totally in love with Nate. But he seems to good to be true. Homecoming King?! Harvard!? Sweetest guy EVER?? omg I could die x_X! Seriously is there anything wrong with him? He is PERFECT. He's smart, CUTE, funny, kind and everything. Yah Jennylee doesn't deserve him! But yeah you're so lucky he's your cousin! Just saw him acting on one show, about american football where he was listening to one band acting on a coffe shop.
Can't remember the show...I tought it was FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.. but it's not.. it a show where one player stop playing american football and he's not on a wheel chair, and all the other players are still on college.

I am too much crazy about tv shows. Beauty and The Geek is one of them. This is really the best show and I like it very much.
I have left to watch this show. Now I am hooked up with One Tree Hill TV Show.
Guys ...I do not like to watch these type of series. I like to watch animated show and I like Bleach Episodes very much.
